The Electromagnetic Spectrum
The sun is a major source of
energy for changes on the Earth’s surface
The sun loses energy by
radiating light, gas and particles
A tiny amount of that light
reaches the Earth, transferring energy from the sun to the Earth.
The sun’s energy arrives as
light in the form of waves. There are
many different lengths of waves.
Each type of light has a
different length of wave.
Infrared light is a longer
wave than visible light.
Ultraviolet, X-rays and gamma
rays are shorter than visible light.
The shorter the wave length, the more energy the wave
has.
